AmeriCorps Volunteers - Serve your Country and your Community!
Currently Recruiting for 2009 Service Year, Starting September 1st!

Positive Balance is a comprehensive financial literacy and financial empowerment program launched by the Licking County Coalition for Housing in 2005. Using highly trained AmeriCorps members, Positive Balance works to overcome the financial challenges facing Ohio.

AmeriCorps Positive Balance has 30 opportunities for placement of AmeriCorps members. Positive Balance hosts sites in eight Ohio counties including: Coshocton, Fairfield, Franklin, Licking, Monroe, Perry, Ross and Stark. These financial coaches serve an average 32 hours a week.

Financial coaches work with individuals and families to develop custom plans to improve their financial stability and "grow" personal assets. These financial coaches have the opportunity to educate hundreds of their neighbors on spending and saving wisely, improving personal credit, and developing confidence in money management. All Positive Balance services are provided free of charge.

There is no need for previous financial management experience or training. Instead one must have a willingness to learn and engage in community-based teaching and learning.
  • Must be compassionate and interested in serving your community.
  • Comfortable speaking publicly and in small group settings.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Must be willing to work 32 hours a week (or 1,700 hours in the service year).

Members are compensated bi-weekly to total $11,400 by year-end. Members are provided with limited health insurance and childcare subsidies. At the end of the service year (Sept. 1, 2009 - Aug. 31, 2010) members can access a $4,725 education grant.

AmeriCorps is a national service program like the Peace Corps.
AmeriCorps is not just for College Students!
