1997 LICKING COUNTY HOUSING FORUM: Assisted Housing

Within Licking County, there are 24 subsidized apartment complexes with a total of approximately 1,305 subsidized apartment units, not including units that are occupied by those with Section 8 Certificates or Vouchers. (See maps). A majority of these units are located within the City of Newark. There continues to be a long term waiting list The average time period on a waiting list for two or three bedroom Section 8 rental housing or subsidy is 2 years. Primary locations where there is a housing need for families with children are Pataskala and Utica. There is also a need throughout Licking County for an additional 1,102 subsidized multifamily housing units. There continues to be a great need for housing units big enough for a family of 5 or more.   • LMHA owns 99 one bedroom units for the elderly/disabled (Public Housing)
  • The following Section 8 units were developed prior to 1975:

    • Washington Square, 82 units of elderly
    • Concord, 50 units for family developed under the 236 program
    • Cherry Lee, 86 units for family developed under the 236 program
    • Cherry Lee 11,64 units for family developed under the 236 program

  • Since 1975 the following units were developed:

    • Washington Square II, 26 units for the elderly
    • Amendment, 36 units for the elderly
    • Washington Square III, 103 units for the elderly
    • Newark Townhouses, 50 units for families
    • Log Pond Apartments, 50 units for families
    • Apple Wood Village, 46 units for families
    • Newark Green Apartments, 34 units for families
    • Eastgate, 20 units of 202 housing
    • Shiloh, 36 units of 202 housing
    • Washington Square, 40 units of 202 housing

  • Other assisted housing projects in the city are:
