1997 LICKING COUNTY HOUSING FORUM: Assisted Housing
Within Licking County, there are 24 subsidized apartment complexes with a total of approximately 1,305 subsidized apartment units, not including units that are occupied by those with Section 8 Certificates or Vouchers. (See maps). A majority of these units are located within the City of Newark. There continues to be a long term waiting list The average time period on a waiting list for two or three bedroom Section 8 rental housing or subsidy is 2 years. Primary locations where there is a housing need for families with children are Pataskala and Utica. There is also a need throughout Licking County for an additional 1,102 subsidized multifamily housing units. There continues to be a great need for housing units big enough for a family of 5 or more.
